iPod Touch USB Cable

Can someone please tell me if it is okay to use the older iPod USB Cables like the one on the right with my 2nd Gen Touch, or will using those have the potential to do some sort of damage over a long period of time to the device? Due to the fact that they were made for older generations of iPods, would it still be fine and not at all harmful to use it? Or should I use the newer USB cables at all times?

Either one will work fine.

I swap cables between different gens all the time. No problems.

I preffer the old cables because of the lock clips that secure the cable to the iPod. But yea, they both are fine.
