Why would one want an ipod touch if they already had a blackberry?

Music,Video and internet for the touch

BlackBerry for email, phone calls and SMS/MMS

While one can do all of them, each one has its strong points

I carry an older model blackberry and a touch 2g every day. For business and pleasure, they complement each other nicely. With a little bit of research you'll realize there are benefits to having both.

strange question, IMO. They're such totally different devices that your question is kind of the equivalent of asking, "why would anyone who has a car want a bike?" It's obviously an imperfect analogy, but the point is that you're probably trying to accomplish two very different things with the two items in question... so different, in fact, that their functionality hardly overlaps at all.

Wouldn't it be smarter to get a nano to compliment your Blackberry instead? This way you'd have less of a feature overlap between the two. (Plus, the nano is smaller in your pocket)

Why carry a nano when I can carry a touch? Size is no issue, I have large pockets:D

Like I said, I'm not carrying a Storm or a Bold, and the touch gives me instant access (with wifi) to all the youtube, itunes, etc.

The recent addition of being able to d/l podcasts via wifi on the touch is another new plus here.

My BB is not wifi compatible, (as most aren't). So when I'm at a wifi hotspot I have fast beautiful surfing, and the BB gives me access to the web (although slower and uglier) when I'm not in a hotspot.

Email is user friendly on both of them imo. This issue I could give or take either one.

The touch can be used as a flash drive, of sorts, while the blackberry cannot.

Like was stated, they are very different devices.

I have both and see no problem of overlap at all really. It's like apples and oranges.

I carry my ipod touch for these reasons:
- more elegant music player (album art, lyrics, etc)
- to watch movies on the plane or treadmill
- to play tons of cool games

My BB (which is fairly recent (TMO 8800)) can't do the above very well (or at all in some cases)

I carry my blackberry for these reasons:
- Phone (duh)
- Email
- SMS
- Instant messaging

I don't use my iTouch to do any of the above.

A more reasonable comparison for discussion purposes would be BB vs. iPhone.

FWIW - I'm switching to an iPhone this Christmas. :D

If you don't have a Blackberry Storm, get the iPod Touch.

I played with the storm today and it wasn't all that great. And I don't know if I liked the clicking touch screen. Anyways what does a blackberry(cellphone) have anything to do with a mp3 player(touch)?

Agreed.

I am not a fan at all of the clicking screen. The scrolling and zooming is not what I'm accustomed to on the touch. Its hard to type, to hit the right keys, and there is no wifi for faster access. Keep your storm, I'll keep my old school BB and the touch for now.

I sold my iPhone 3G to get a Blackberry Storm. On Launch Day for the Storm, I got it. Today I got the new iPod Touch. I miss the internet. :)
