This is over a year old but I found a private message in my inbox this morning and I thought this might benefit others if it is still available.

QUESTION:
Hiya, Mercury7! I know this is a bit stalkery, but I just read an old TUAW page talking about a cheaply-made remote for the iPod touch for a few dollars. You posted a comment, saying that you had ordered one.

What can you say about it? Do you recommend it?

Thanks,

ANSWER:

sorry this reply is two months late :) anyway if you can find it still...then yes order it....works great....and is invaluable as a volume control on the ipod touch.....most third party apps don't incorporate a volume control.....I have a small speaker I hook up and this is the only way to adjust volume.....some apps though can be adjusted without it by opening up another 3rd party app like pandora....but having direct access is much cooler.

the only other issue is if you have a case for your touch it may not fit the dock connector...I had to whittle down the plastic on the connector some to get it to fit into my otterbox case.

I wish it was black and not as bulky but for 6 bucks it is fantastic.

this is the link to the tuaw article where I found it initially, happy hunting :)

P.s. I went ahead and googled this for everyone....the link to the product on tuaw was now dead but it appears this
other company has them in stock, now that we have third party apps this becomes really useful for volume control....I use this with the imaingo2 speaker....another awesome device
