iPod touch iPod touch: wireless sync via firmware update?

Can the iPod touch have wireless sync through a firmware update? Does it have the hardware that will support wireless sync in the future by means of a firmware update? What I'm trying to get at is: Can a firmware update enable wireless sync on an iPod touch?

Absolutely, in fact this is something I've wondered why it hasn't been done yet. If a macbook air can use wireless networking to borrow a CD drive, i think wireless syncing is possible.
