iPod touch iPod Touch won't boot up after being in the sun

So was in Cyprus last week and my Mum was using her iPod Touch whilst lying on a sun bed.
Now it it does is show the Apple logo and then reboot and show the Apple logo again.

I've entered Recovery Mode, restored it, and it's doing the same thing. Is it well and truly broken?
