I have a 32GB ipod touch that i got in october of 2009, and i've been trying to get it to show up on my new macbook pro that i just got in june of 2010. whenever i connect it to the usb port, however, it doesnt show up anywhere on the computer. i have all of my software updated on the computer. and its definitely not the port or the cable because the ipod charges when its hooked up. please help!!!

Did you try running iTunes? iPod touch doesn't show up as a hard drive, if that's what you're expecting.

Have you tested the usb ports on your new mbp with something else? Charging only tells you that the power lines on the usb port work. It doesn't tell you if the signal lines work. If you have an external hard drive or even a memory stick you could test the usb ports out with... that would help you narrow this down.

Also does the iPod Touch work when connected to a usb port on another machine?

As the previous poster said start up iTunes, and then plug in the iPod Touch...
