I have a first-generation iPod touch which I purchased from a friend about a year ago; at the moment I would like to install some apps on it (Remember the Milk and Twitter, specifically). However, every time I try to install these apps, iTunes informs me that I do not have a recent enough software version.

When I go to my iPod in iTunes and try to update it, though, it tells me that my current software version (2.2.1) is the current available version. I know this isn't true, and I also know that Twitter and RtM require 3.1. Is it not possible to download 3.1 for the 1st-gen iTouch? If it *is* possible, why can't I do it, and is there any way around this?

Thanks very much for any help you can provide. :)

because you have to pay for it. it's not hard to find a download on the internet, though. I'd link it here but it's against forum rules.

Ah, yes, found it. I knew you had to pay for it, but i didn't realize it was separate from the normal update procedure, and iTunes wasn't making it easy to find.

Thanks very much!
