Hi, asince my iPhone 3GS has a crack in the screen but it works fine, shall I purchase an iPod touch?

If you want to. It just really depends. I would suggest getting it fixed or getting a new iPhone versus getting an iPod touch, but that's your call.

If you don't mind a crack in your iPhone 3GS screen and it still works fine, I don't see a reason to get an iPod touch.

Do you not need a phone? If not, then get a 4th gen touch. They are pretty sweet aside from the grainy (but very quick) camera. HD video is very very nice though with equally good sound.

Well there's only three kinds and the only difference they have is the size of storage (8gb, 32gb, 64gb). So any of those three would work for you depending on how much you want to put on it.

If you're having anxiety about the crack on your 3GS, I suggest waiting until September, October and wait and see if they release any new iPod touches
