Any news on the usb connection for the ipod, as I want it to transfer files from work, will I be able to transfer files via old USB 1?

Yes - USB1.1 support is part of the USB2 specification - it'll be slow as hell though. Also I *think* USB transfer is only supported on PC's, although I'm not sure there.

Apple has said USB transfers will only be from the PC not from the Mac since many mac users have FW built in

Isn't there supposed to be a update this month that will add usb support to the mac?

Thats the one to turn *on* the support under PC isn't it?

According to this article from thinksecret Apple will release the iPod 2.01 update this week that will allow you to use the USB/Firewire combo cable.

Where on your body is the FW port? :D

haha....not.... just when i think i can type a simple post about the fact that macinstosh computers have firewire ports BUILT INTO their machines ... i'm quite sorry the original post confused you

Will Apple ever bring out a firewire - firewire cable. I have a 4 pin firewire socket on my laptop but it means when i transfer files to my iPod the battery gets eaten into quite significantly (as 4 pin doesn't provide power), so I would love to able to charge and sync. I lack USB 2.
