As the iPod has evolved over time, the menu-list-based user interface is getting extremely cluttered and cumbersome to use. Too many options and menus. Apple seems to be taking things in the right direction with the AppleTV interface and iPhone interface. I hope an iPod UI overhaul is in the works.

Does anyone know of a way to hack the iPod to use a different interface scheme? Specifically, I would like the UI to look more like the iPhone, with icons which you scroll through, similar to when scrolling through photos. No touch screen required. Ipod-linux have a solution? Anyone else agree the iPod UI desperately needs an update?
