iPod Ipod video + camera connector and RAW files

hello all
I shoot professionally and have canon EOS cameras and always shoot RAW files plus small jpegs. have th 60gig Ipod Vid 5th gneration and obviously like to use it as a storage device on some shoots rather than taking the powerbook along.
Have read the battery hungry reviews about the Apple camera connector and know about th Belkin one as well.
firstly, which one do any of you guys recommend? is there any other choices?
2nd, if I get the Apple connector, I presume I can retrieve the RAW files from the ipod to my powerbook. Not interested in viewing on the ipod, just like to know if it will act as a storage device.

I've transferred RAW files (Fuji version) onto a 60gig Video iPod no problem at the same time as some jpegs. You can't view the Raw files on the iPod but if you put the iPod into disc mode (You choose the option on the iPod preferences at the bottom of the iTunes screen) you can copy them to your computer no problem.
