iPod Ipod Video & itunes Help

i have an 5th gen. ipod video... which is formatted to a pc. Whenever i want to add converted videos to it on a pc it give me no problem... but whenever i try to add videos onto it using my Mac, it won't add it to my ipod, even purchases, and all the videos are converted to MP4. itunes won't even add the videos to my library. Any idea what i can do?
