When I hooked up the video ipod (80 gb) to my TV via iPod official cables, the volume is so low I can barely hear it, and thats with everything turned way up. I don't want to just max out the volume within iTunes because I'm afraid that will distort the sound. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is the iPod just very weak when sending out both audio and video?

(p.s. yes, I did max out the volume security control in the ipod settings)

Are you using a dock to connect it? If so are you using the Line Out? If so that's probably your problem (Line Out is designed to be fed to an amplifier).

No, I got these cables that you just plug into the headphone jack and it splits from headphone to RCA (video and audio). So Im just running it off the ipod battery (ie not docked when playing). The video looks good and the audio sounds ok when I can hear it, but I have to max everything out to hear it. Furthermore, my TV is hooked up to a streo receiver so it is actually getting an extra boost.
