I asked a question a few weeks ago about reformatting my ipod for a mac. The consensus was to leave the ipod in FAT32. I do not think my ipod is in this format because in my ipod summary it says that I can not make any firmware updates to my ipod on my mac.

How can I tell what format my ipod is in? I had a PC when I bought the ipod.

If it is not in FAT 32 how do I reformat it into FAT32?

This could all not be worth the trouble since how many firmware updates are there that are necessary for a 80gb ipod.

On your mac, just click on the ipod and get info on it (command+I)

That will tell you what format your ipod is in.

If its not in fat32 format, you can just use disk utility on it to format it. (or use the "restore" function in itunes maybe? (I havent ever needed to restore or format my ipod... but I know disk utility will work.
