I'm planning on getting an iPod, but I was wondering if I would be able to sync it with iTunes on my PC (Windows), and then sync my contacts and calendar (iCal) on the Mac? I have about 25GB of music and have a 30GB HD on my iBook, so that's why I keep it on my PC.

Yes you will be able to.
Just use isync on your mac to sync your calendar.
Itunes on windows to sync your music.
When you connect your ipod to the mac, it will ask you if you want to delete all the music on your ipod and replace it with whatever is on your mac. Press no.

Great. Thanks.

coming from other direction. . .

My iPod is sync'd with my iBook (music and contacts) and I'm mostly wondering if I will be able to use the iPod as a FW HD to transfer data files between the two computers. In other words, does Windows recognize the iPod as an external FW HD?

What about syncronizing your iPod with two Macs so that you can upload music from the pod to additional computers beside the 'home' computer. I know its possible, because the people at mac tech support said it was, but that they would lose their job if they explained it to me. Does anyone know how to do it??
