iPod iPod with messed up tags/file names, a fix?

hello!
I have an iPod that has around 20000 songs in it
the problem is that some tags are messed up , either the artists isn't there, or some names that are in different language are spelled with @#$%^^& characters
since this iPod isn't mine is there any way to fix it on my Mac instead?

No, unless your Mac has a copy of the owner's iTunes library. If you sync the iPod with your library, it's going to delete whatever is on that iPod and replace it with whatever is in your library. Bye bye 20,000 songs.

There's not a way to correct corrupted metadata (title, artist, album, etc.) on the iPod (or an iPhone or iPad, for that matter). If the data is corrupted in the iPod but is correct in iTunes, then erasing and re-syncing the contents of the iPod should fix the issue. If the data was corrupted in the original iTunes library, then it needs to be corrected in that iTunes library and re-synced to the iPod.
