hey a friend has a 60 gig ipod, first 5 gen, and he fully charged it and ejected it, now it wont turn on, reset, and the computer wont recognize it. He runs windows xp and really really needs it fixed. any help? sorry if this was answered in another thread. any ideas are appreciated.

if you need any more info feel free to ask, he tried the 5 R's. He really needs it fixed, without sending it to apple.

Well, try connecting it to a different machine to see if it has more luck being recognised there. If you connect it to a Mac, see whether Disk Utility recognises it and if so, then erase it and format it as FAT32. :)

thanks alot, right now he diesnt have acess to a mac but ill offer to see what "magic i can work with it", and told him to try leaving unpluged for 24 hours and try again as the site said, thanks alot to both of you, any more ideas?
