My iPod was running kinda slow today so I decided to restore it. It wasn't jailbroken or hacked or anything, just 1.1.4 running as it was designed. I put it into recovery mode and plug it in, and iTunes will run the restore process until it says that an unknown error occured and that the iPod cannot be restored. It never gets past the preparing to restore step.

Now all I'm getting is the Connect to iTunes screen on the device. There's probably a really easy way around this, but does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

After letting it sit for an hour, the thing eventually turned off. So I switched it on and it started syncing my newest podcasts... nothing was lost on it.
