iPod iPod won't show up in Itunes

Just bought some songs from iTunes store and want to dump them into my iPod but for some reason it will not show up in my iTunes. It has always shown up but now for some reason it will not. Ideas/solutions ?. PROBLEM SOLVED. My Mac was just having a ' moment'
