I just got an iPod, and all I can say is that I love the damn little thing. LOVE IT. But, I only had it for one night, and my friend, who wears a lot of rings, put a few scratches in it :O

So what should I do, live with it, or try to exhange it?

BTW, what is the best FM tuner for it?

Live with it, Apple won't exchange it for scratches.... why don't you get a nice case for it?

As for FM transmitters, the best one is the iTrip, as it fits in with the look and feel of the iPod, but unfortunately the ones they're selling now don't support the new iPods... as it says on that page, it's coming out "soon".

dont worrry, even if you never touched the ipod it will still manage to get scratches, just try not to set it on anything with the stainless steel and always keep it in its case and you will notice it being shiny for years to come. i made that mistake with my very first ipod. i got my first one a little before they came out and nobody had any cases for it, by the time i got one it was so scratched up. my 2nd 5gb ipod i kept scratchless as well as my 3rd generation.

Well, they will exchange it if you give them the "right" excuse.
As for should or should you not, it's up to you. Depends how much it bothers you. I personally can't stand even small damages if i paid like $500 for an item, but my friend could care less about how it looks, as long as it functions.

they wont replace it because of scratches, because nothing is wrong with it. its you fault it has scratches, and it still works how it did new. its user abuse and just cosmetic issues, dont expect apple to fix it, thats just plain stupid.

I'll never understand people who get all upset over scratches. Unless you're taking the iPod to car shows and exhibiting it in the cup-holder of your new beetle, as long as the thing plays MP3's it doesn't matter :)

I learned NEVER to carry it in your pocket around school, use a carrying case, I wish I could get rid of all my scratches :(

holly resurected thread batman!!!

As far as I know the iSkin exo, and the new iSkin exo2 for the 3G iPods does not allow for the iTrip to be used. There have been people over at iPodlounge.com that have made a slit along the top so that it can be peeeled back, howerver, I am not sure how good that is for your iSkin.

psht, keep it. I'm sure you could probably get apple to exchange it if yo ucame up with some bs excuse, but that's wrong to put it on them when it was not their fault. Anyway, don't worry about it. I was also pretty pissed when my first one got a scratch in it. However, once that happened, I was able to relax and not be so anal about keeping it perfect, and I had a lot more fun with it. Sure, it has some scratches now, but oh well, that gives it personality, lets me know it's mine. Anyway, just my .02
