I design small websites for novice business types - they dont need shopping carts or even anytype of bill pay. The understanding is since i am a full time graduate student- i dont have the time (nor the desire) to keep up their site. I design / edit images / code html & css and i would feel much better easing them into a easy and honest provider. Looking for: good hosting ; that is reasonably priced ; with some sort of live chat / phone help (with out endless hidden charges) ; that you have had positive dealings. im not looking for the 5$ a year plans, i do believe you get what you pay for to a certain extent...
i would appreciate any suggestions. either through post or you can send me a private msg. thanks in advance.

I've been pretty happy with them for the past few years...though their phone support sucks. Spent almost 4 hours on hold.

what is a reasonable price to you?

i use u2mike.com for my site and have yet to have any problem, and all my questions are answered within an hour

Appreciated!

ill check out u2mike - i appreciate the suggestion. at this point, i think anything under a hundred! *laughs*
im not paying but the dual issue:
i dont want to rip off (thus alienate my clients) &/but i want the hosting co. to have a simple enough interface. they are smart enough people but i want to assure the smoothest transition and fewest emails! (im tempted to send some to use apache and perhapse recomend a few good books! HA! *grins* these few make me:  :there is a client or two who not only want me to type up the copy... but to create it! ack. like i know there inner business mottos. (well, sure they are obvious but i so under charge these people!! ;)
i wont mention the long phone waits though in my suggestions! *laughs*
ill check out u2mike and see how their service stacks up!
thanks
beyond all

I used iPowerWeb for a year and I was pleased. It's a good service - very stable. I don't think it is as fast as my current provider, asmallorange.com. However I switched less than a week ago, so it's too early to say anything about asmallorange yet.

iPowerWeb is good though, you won't be dissappointed, but there may be better.

Good Luck,
