IPP brightness changes and fluctuations?

Has anyone found that their iPad Pro will have changed brightness after awakening or sometimes after changing apps? I do have auto brightness set off.

I thought I was seeing things until I got an app that would show brightness numerically, and I can confirm that it is changing. Is there a power saving feature somewhere that I have missed?

I have auto brightness on and haven't noticed this.

Auto brightness doesn't work as consistently as it does on my iPad Air / Air 2 and mini.

Apple genius says he clearly sees it and Apple is aware. That's good since generally that means at some point in the future it may get fixed.
