This is my setup. My main computer is a PowerMac Dual 1.25 G4 with all my songs (4280 songs, 31 gigs used). Yes, I can listen to all of the songs in about 26 days. In my living room I have a Powerbook G3 Wallstreet networked (wired not airport) together with all the other computers in the house. Using iTunes ability to share playlists with networked computers I use the laptop to network the music from my main computer in the computer room to the main house stereo in the in the living room. This works great for me. Except I come from the generation of couch potatoes that thinks its too much work if we have to get up and click "next" to get to the next song. What I would like is if there is somehow a way to use the ir port to receive ir signals from a main brand remote and direct it to do simple commands like fetch me a beer. Or better yet, be able to send "previous", "play", or "next" commands using a standard remote to the ir port. I can only hope someone out there has made a hack that would let me do this.
