Iran is reporting a missle fired from an airplane in a region with nuke facilities. A lot not confirmed, but interesting news this morning, futures are diving on the news!

this news has not been confirmed by reliable sources, so could be crap. Lets hope all is well.

edit: could be a missle fired from unmanned US air surveillance aircraft, OR a surface to air missle from Iran to shot down an US UAV.

One story is that it might have been an ejected fuel pod from a military jet, that exploded on impact.

Edit: some sources... timesonline has just picked up the story, the bbc has a little sketchy stuff. Neither the IRNA or the Tehran Times have updated as yet.

if true it's bad news indeed....

and the range of suspects are rather small...

it could be a terrorist attck who want the whole situation to escalate (sp?) or of course a _very_ stupid preemptive strike from somebody else
or of course: a mistake (like the us cruise missile who hit an Iran oil facility by mistake in the attack on iraq)

i really hope it was a mistake ...any further escalation would be only in the interests of terrorists

The Iranians have been allied with Syria for a long time now, so that's even less of a surprise.

Last I heard it was a construction blast. So that was that.

I guess Syria and Iran just wanted to make it official and outloud. Maybe they just think that they need to get together to fight HIV/AIDs in Africa, or to increase Tsunami relief?
