Howdy all,

After the tragic death of my old Macbook Pro, 2 weeks ago I got myself a brand new one and it's working fine, except for one thing. The right fan speed sounds irregular. This occurs at least every two minutes and sounds as if someone is blocking one of the fan holes at times making it harder for the fan to spin, sometimes altering speed repeatedly. However, it doesn't sound as if the fan is faulty.

I installed iStat Pro to check the fan speed and it indicates that both fans are quite stable at 2000 ±5 RPM. Though, I'm not sure whether it measures the actual fan speed or the voltage controlling the fan speed which, I guess, might diverge in troubled times.

Unfortunately, this is a problem hard to explain in a store due to all the noise inherent to such a place. I already tried an SMC reset and a PRAM/NVRAM but that didn't solve it.

Does anyone have another possible solution to this issue?

Thanks in advance, Maarten
