iOS irregular path to Core Animation?

i find myself wanting to animate the properties of certain regions of my view image.

is there a way to define a Rectangle (or preferably and irregular path) and animate the image content inside?

so, lets say i have a picture of a room with a tv in the room. can write code to define the path of the TV (approximately) and apply CA or UI animations like transform, scale and CI image filters to it?

If anyone knows if and how this can be done i'd love the details and actual code. however, if you don't wish to spell it out, a link to a relevant tutorial or source code would also be great.
