Hello,

For those who have had a chance to use the ipad 3g for a while - just want to know if 16gb is enough. I will be using netflix for movies, podcasts will be downloaded to my iphone, i might use the ipad for photo galleries.

What do you have on your ipad and is 16gb enough? I might change my order.

Depends on what you want to put on it. If you have lots of music that could take up plenty of space. I have a big music collection and I'm using over 28GB on the iPad for that alone. I have about 70 apps, but they don't seem to take up a whole lot of space (under 2GB). I have about 15 photo albums using under 1GB. Videos and movies stored on the device (not streamed) will use up space fast. I went with the 64GB, but you may be fine with the 16. I find it's always best to bump up to the next level if you can afford it because before you know it you'll need the space for something. If you're a person who'll want the next upgrade (iPad v2) as soon as it comes out then you probably don't need to worry, but if you want to hang on to v1 for some time then go with the 32GB. :)

No it wouldn't be.

I have the 32gb as does my daughter and it seems to be about perfect. She could FILL the 64 as probably any teenager could, but this way she doesn't carry around a huge video library! :D

I also have a 32gb Touch because 16 wasn't enough.....

i think the 16gb is fine for me. i bought one last week (wi-fi model) and its great. if i plan on traveling ill throw a few movies on there to watch, and i have my ipod filled with music for that.

mostly my ipad is going to be used for surfing, playing some games, and watching movies (have netflix streaming too) so i think the 16gb fine.

I'd like 64GB but it's not worth $200 to me. Even though the iPad's iPod is awesome, I just use my 32GB iPhone for music. For everything else 16GB is more than enough.

16gb for me.

I use AirVideo and Netflix for video data, and I don't use my iPad for music purposes.

Currently I have around 45 apps downloaded and I'm sitting at like 1.4gb used. More than enough space for me. my iPhone only has like 3 gb of apps and i have like 6 pages.

It all depends on what you are going to use it for. I use my 16gig for surfing games and apps. I use my phone for my music so I don't put any music on my iPad. It's plenty of space for me.

32gb for me and I have 23gb still free...

I have over 500 comics using Comiczeal I have 30 or so albums from my iTunes , I could never dream of putting on my entire iTunes as it stands at 187gb at the present time. Plus I have my premium spottify account.

No movies on here for me as I use air video to connect to my iMac server at home, I can watch anything in full HD with no degradation in quality due to ripping in say handbrake and I can watch them over my local network or as I am now whilst sitting in hospital connected to my home iMac over the hospitals open FREE wifi network with absolutely no lag at all once it is up running.

I have over 20 ebooks and 20 PDFs loaded ANC am wondering what to do with all the extra space.

Porn maybe

16GB has been plenty for me so far. I think it comes down to how many photos/songs you really plan on storing. I leave my music for my iPhone but I do put pictures on my iPad. So far I'm not even close to being filled up.

You mentioned 3G so I assume that you will be supplementing your WiFi connectivity with 3G when available (or the only choice). Keeping that in mind, if you plan on watching videos it will be cheaper to buy a larger capacity model (and store the videos locally on the device) rather than stream videos via 3G.

Things like NetFlix and Air Video don't require storage space on your device, but they will eat up the amount of data allowance.

Contrary to popular opinion, 16/32/64 GB models can be sufficient or they can be insufficient. There is no correct answer. It ALL depends upon your expectations. For every person that says that 64GB is fine, I can find one that will say that it is inadequate. The same for 16GB.

If "all" you have is 16GB (16 GIGABYTES!!! wow have we lost perspective) then you can manage your device and have a nice mix of music, video, ebooks, photos, and apps.

I'm getting a 16gb not because I don't need the space (I'm sure it'd be lovely) but I'm looking to do a turn around when/if the iPad 2 comes out. I'll hold off dropping huge money on it until I see what's going on with that.

16gb WiFi works just great for me. I still have 12 left. I use it almost exclusively at home so no need for the additional costs and hassle of 3G.

I use the Touch or Nano for music and don't see the point in having thousands of photos on the iPad. I have a few music videos and I may at some point put a movie or two on it but Air Video looks quite useful so no need to store the movies on the iPad.

16GB is plenty for me. Even with movies like Avatar being 3+GB.
I dont find the need to have tons of movies on my iPad at once and I dont know about you guys but I can only watch one at a time ;)
After I watch something, I take it off and replace it with something new.
Even the 64GB wouldnt hold all my stuff so I found no reason to buy anything bigger than the 16GB.
Personal preference I guess...

Yes, 16GB is enough for me. I have my iPod nano and my Zune HD for music while my iPad just has a few video podcasts and lots of apps.

16 GB (I have the 3g version) is enough for me. Most of my music is on my iPod, just a small selection of current favorite albums and playlists on my iPad. The only video I have on my iPad is a few videos of my kid's concerts and a few video podcasts--otherwise I use Netflix, etc. for watching video. I have 6 pages of apps, about 1 GB of photos, some audio podcasts, a bunch of PDFs, documents, and a few dozen ebooks. I still have about 7 GB free.

The one time I could envision needing more space would be on vacation if I'm frequently offloading full size photos/Flip video to the iPad, but that might only occur twice/year.

I got 32GB mostly as insurance but 16 would have been fine. Most of the content on mine is transient anyways.

Not. Even. Close. Bub.

Seriously, I have a 64GB and between uncompressed music, some home videos of my kids, apps and other files such as books, PDF's, etc., I have less than 20GB left on mine.

However, if you have compressed music files, stream videos, and do not have a bunch of large PDF's, then 16GB may be perfect.

Obviously, it is up to you and what you plan on putting on it.

You sound like a pack rat to me! Haha just kidding :)
you just seem like you like to have a lot of stuff with you, I guess.
I'm around my computer enuff to where I can just sync what I need. I actually like syncing often as it keeps my address book up to date across all my devices (yea yea, I know, buy mobile me)
I have tons of content as it sounds like you do as well, my main point being that I just don't need all of it with me all the time.
When I sync my iPad I put on what I'm gonna need "today"

For everything I have? No. But 64GB is nowhere near too. So I figured get the lowest capacity but most connected

I've worked out a way that works for me though, and once I have an iPod touch for music, then it wouldn't be as much of a tight fit.

I would have said the lower size would be good enough before AT&T announced that it was phasing out the unlimited data plan. However, now that a 2Gb cap is reality I think people need to rethink how they are going to use the iPad. Might make more sense to have a copy of your media on the device itself rather than streaming it.

16gb was just barely enough to fit the entire Futurama collection onto, which makes it perfect for me.
