I know that I won't get a MBP at Christmas (though it would be a pleasant surprise), but I figure that I'll probably have enough money to buy one with my Christmas money.

Is the extra 200 MHz really worth that $225? I'm doing FCS work, and my tea kettle prepares my tea faster than when my aging 2.0 GHz single G5 renders video.

IMO it's definitely, definitely not worth it. that also seems to be the consensus around here, i think. theres a couple threads about this, search for them.

it really is...if you're buying an MBP, it's a small price to pay for such a performance bump

Guess there's not much of a consensus.

Anyway, I think if you're going to pay that extra for an extra .2GHz, then you might as well go all the way and get the 17 inch. The 2.2 GHz model will be plenty fast enough though.
