When I log into my ATT account this is what my upgrade eligibility says. I sold my iphone a month ago so I am still on the iPhone plan. Will I be able to buy the 16Gb for $300 or will I have to pay $500.

Apparently, you are not eligible for the $300 price. I received a message that I could upgrade to an iphone only if I recommitted to a 2-year plan.

Probably because you bought the iPhone like a couple of months ago.

I bought mine on day one and mine shows that I can get it for $299.

on the att video it says that any original iphone owner is eligible

You should argue with AT&T not the forum posters.

We only know what has been told to us (you included) by AT&T. If you have specific questions on your account, please direct it to them.

how does att know that. I still pay the iphone plan. what about all these other people who sold their phones.

my fiance and I bought two refurbished iPhones from AT&T back in April...sold our phones 2 weeks ago...have been using really crappy $15 pay-as-you-go phones I bought from Best Buy...didn't change our iPhone plans, just simply put in our old iPhone sim cards...and we're both eligible for "reduced-equipment pricing" when we sign up for a new 2-year agreement...

I bet I can explain this

He was in a contract when he purchased the original iphone so they wont let him upgrade because he got the phone before the original iphone phone unsubsidized.

Is this true?

Note that it says "with exception of iPhone" which means that he is eligible for iPhone at the $300 price tag but any other phone would be the no-commitment price.

no it doesn't, it means he can't buy a iPhone with no commitment and he cant get a discount either

nevermind, i got it worked out with att, they had in their directory that i was using a nokia 6555. I changed it back to iphone and i am eligible now:)
