I got an offer to buy a like-new March '09 Mac Pro. It has two years of Apple Care left. The specs are as follows:

8 x 2.66 "Nehalem" Xeon processors
6tb internal SATA storage- 4x1tb RAID array and 1x2tb system boot volume in one of the optical bays
24GB RAM - 6x4gb
ATI Radeon 4870 video card
WiFi Card

It has not been really worked into a sweat - the guy used it a good amount, but it was never pushed to its full potential.

I have thoroughly tested it out and I can't find any issues with it... does this seem like a good price? I talked him down from $6800.

I really appreciate the help.

It's 3999$ from refurb store, another $1k for RAM, 350$ for GPU, ~500$ for HDs + RAID card... Yeah, it seems to be decent deal. Try offering 5000$ then come closer and you may get it for 5200$

Thanks Hellhammer - I tried to go lower but he got very snippy and inferred that I was lowballing him. I checked out all the gear I would need (plus shipping, plus my time to put it together) and it still comes out to more than $5500. Apparently the same machine from Tekserve here in NYC will be about $8100.

It's worth your time alone to get that bad boy. It's a great deal.
