I've been searching the interwebs and Best Buys and Frys Electronics in search for 4GB of DDR3 Ram, an upgrade of my current 2GB RAM...

The lowest price im finding is $85-ish and wanted to see if this was the typical price before I made a purchase.

Maybe I just haven't faced that price yet considering with my old MacBook for 4GB of DDR2 RAM it was under $30....

I just bought 4GB of DDR2 (2x2GB) for $97CAD so...

a) Yup, that's a pretty good price for DDR3
b) Where the %@$! did you find 4GB of DDR2 for under $30??

Frys Electronics had them for like $60...but on sale for $45 and had a thanksgiving weekend sale at the time for $29

I'll sell you 4gb of pny ddr3 ram for 73 shipped

Shipped USPS priority

Sent laptop to apple and removed my ram before shipping it, they sent MacBook back upgraded to 4gb

I usually trust Newegg to be a good feeler for market prices. You can usually find a bit cheaper, but I like Newegg's good customer service and easy returns. That being said, they currently have 4GB of PNY for $99.99 and free shipping.

That's the cheapest for a "name brand."

So in answer to your question, yeah, $85 is a good price IF it is a reputable name. My advice is always to avoid cheap memory like the plague...
