hey everyone,

sorry for my noob post, but i was mislead at an at&t store today and i want to get my facts straight.

i just bought my sister a 4gb iphone (only paid $200!) for use on our at&t familytalk plan. i was under the impression that you could cancel the data plan after activation and still access phone/text as well as any internet functions via wifi. she'll be at college next year, so she will have constant wifi access.

will i be able to do this?

thanks :)

Yes you can, I've done it. You can turn it back on by accessing your account on the website as well (I haven't tried deactivating it this way though). Keep in mind you lose SMS, since it's part of the plan, and need to set up regular voicemail.

this is fine, since my family has messaging unlimited. thanks for your input :)
