I'm not asking if its worth it to get the phone. What I want to know is: in 2013, is 16 GB of memory say on a flash drive really worth $100?

It is not worth it if you compare it to flash memory but surely you understand it would be stupid to market two very similarly priced phones that have very different jumps in memory?! If they were only 50 quid apart, nobody would buy the smaller device. Basic economic and marketing logic, surely.

You don't really have a choice if you want to store a modest amount of music on your phone. You've got to get the 32GB or larger version even if it is a ripoff.

Do you even need to ask? The price for another 32 GB (from 32 to 64) is the same price as the 16, and other manufacturers have started shipping with 32 GB as the baseline and offering higher capacity options for much cheaper.

I get that. If I was apple I'd do the same.

But still, why not offer a 32 for say $220 and a 64 for $300. I'm sure people would pay the extra $20.

Yeah, but now the fanboys can say "just use iTunes radio"

In terms of memory, obviously not.
In terms of usage, it depends. 16 GB is fine if you want to store hundreds of songs, some tens of apps and a couple of movies at a time.

but why make it at those price points when apple can just keep them at the price points they set and make TONS more money?
