i already have 3 external drives connected to my mac and there almost full, so i need about 2 more externals one to back up the other, these are movies and music

my mac mini has 4 usb ports so i need to get a usb3.0 hub, so i could either keep buying external drives or get some thing like that ^
it would take me about a year or more to fill up the 3TB drive

a drobo is just too expensive

my 3 current external drives are 2 toshiba 3TB and one 1TB drive

I have one with my 2012 Mini, it works fine. I turned off the "auto sleep" settings on the ProBox. My Mini is set to never sleep so not sure how it handles waking up from sleep, but I suspect no different than any other USB enclosure.

I'm running two 2TB disks mirrored as my iTunes Media drive, and two 1TB drives mirrored as a Time Machine backup disk for the other Macs in the house (using ML Server). It's been solid, no issues.

You should be able to take apart any 3.5" external and use that. My 1TB disks came from an old USB 2.0 WD MyBook Mirror drive.
