I didn't think Firefox would catch up, but I ran both browsers head to head in the javascript sunspider benchmark. I blogged about it here, but I was curious if everyone else was getting similar results...
 
I could try it later today when I open my mac. Although it would be a surprise to me.

Browsers are now producing native codes for js. So eventually. Js performance is more of a CPU thing than a browser thing.

I do want to mention that although important, we shouldn't exaggerate its usefuness. Its a misconception that a browser can be 3x faster just because its JS performance is 3x faster.

Indeed - many other factors, but JS is becoming more and more and more and more prevalent on the web...
