I will miss it when I trade in my current MBP for the new version which we are all waiting on with bated breath........... I really like the lighted logo.
This would be my answer.Eh.
I can't stand the 2016/17 design, but the lack of a backlit logo is, curiously, something I don't mind.
Upside down... which models were upside down?it being upside down when the computer was in use annoyed me more aesthetically,
To me there were small finishing touches on the Mac that really made it stand out and made it "mac like"
The gong on booting up (now removed, though there's a way to re-enable it).
The glowing apple icon. I think that was a cool feature and I'm disappointed that apple removed it.
The happy mac boot up image, I know this long gone, but tbh, I loved that little guy showing up
The glowing light, again another feature long removed, but it was very useful.
My newly purchased Razer has a glowing logo on the back, a glowing light to indicate that its sleeping, on or even low battery. My point in raising that is there are makers putting in the time, effort and design to make a fine product. I'm not saying Macs are not a fine product but the removal of those features makes it less unique and more generic.

My 2017 15" is the right way "up" when in use, and can't recall any of my old machines having the logo upside down (2010 15" MBP, and 2012 15" rMBP)
If I may it feels solid and very mac like in its fit and finish. I'm still putting it through its paces. Ill be very honest in that I've not yet fully decided to keep it or not. I have 14 days and I'm going to take full advantageThe razors are nice, the laptops they make are a good size, thin and not thick athough a bit pricey like their phone.
Apple made the change from the upside-down logo to the right-side up logo around the time of the TiBook and the iceBook. Previous Powerbooks and the colored iBooks had the upside logo. The Pismo had the logo "upside down."
