It’s the only thing I would change on my 2017 mbp w touchbar. That and magesafe of course.

Eh.

I can't stand the 2016/17 design, but the lack of a backlit logo is, curiously, something I don't mind.

I will miss it when I trade in my current MBP for the new version which we are all waiting on with bated breath........... I really like the lighted logo.

This would be my answer.

I hate just about everything about it including the keyboard, giant touchpad, touchbar, battery life, and price tag.

Yes I do but I miss magsafe more. I know there are legitimate technical reasons for it's disappearance on the altar of thinness however it does leave the impression of a simpler construction and therefore cheaper for Apple.

Annoyed... No, I like the glowing logo but its not an important part of the machine for me.
The MagSafe is however a feature I am missing, this was a brilliant and elegant way to charge the Mac while still allowing for release in case of a tug in the cable.
But as there are many 3rd party solutions those who really want it back can.

While on the subject of the MacSafe, I do really love the flexibility of the new charger as I have gone through quit a few which have died due to cable fraying, this is now a thing of the past as I will be able to substitute the cable instead of the whole charger

It was always more of a novelty for me. But in public, I always wished the machine was less distinctive, not more.

I prefer to have my possessions to publicly appear more generic at a glance. They attract less attention that way. Which is the best way to keep your devices when you’re in public.

But on the logo side, it being upside down when the computer was in use annoyed me more aesthetically, than whether it did or didn’t glow. Though it’s being there at all bothered me more.

It was quite an iconic feature, think it would look sleeker with the stainless steel logo and just a thin outline lighting up around the edge if they were to bring it back though!

It was great seeing it glow while I was using my machine. Oh wait, I couldn't see it!

Point being, it was nice and quirky add-on, but I find it hard to be annoyed by it's ommission.

I like it simply because I can tell just by peaking into my office if my MBP is awake or asleep (when it should be the latter).

The alienwear systems have that glowing alien on the cover which can emit different colors.

To me there were small finishing touches on the Mac that really made it stand out and made it "mac like"
The gong on booting up (now removed, though there's a way to re-enable it).
The glowing apple icon. I think that was a cool feature and I'm disappointed that apple removed it.
The happy mac boot up image, I know this long gone, but tbh, I loved that little guy showing up :)
The glowing light, again another feature long removed, but it was very useful.

My newly purchased Razer has a glowing logo on the back, a glowing light to indicate that its sleeping, on or even low battery. My point in raising that is there are makers putting in the time, effort and design to make a fine product. I'm not saying Macs are not a fine product but the removal of those features makes it less unique and more generic.

The razors are nice, the laptops they make are a good size, thin and not thick athough a bit pricey like their phone.

Upside down... which models were upside down?
My 2017 15" is the right way "up" when in use, and can't recall any of my old machines having the logo upside down (2010 15" MBP, and 2012 15" rMBP)

The Pismo had the logo "upside down."

I think it was the first release of the old Powerbook G4s which had the apple the wrong way up...

[edit: ninja'd by Naimfan - and it was the G3, not G4]

I did like the illuminated logo, but mostly because it used no additional lighting or power -- it's just lit up by the screen's backlight itself.

It won't be too long until we switch to non-backlit displays such as OLED anyway.

If I may it feels solid and very mac like in its fit and finish. I'm still putting it through its paces. Ill be very honest in that I've not yet fully decided to keep it or not. I have 14 days and I'm going to take full advantage

It's funny how the new mac commercials end off with a glowing Apple but they no longer make it. I agree with other comments, I liked the glowing Apple but the Pre-2016 designs are ugly now.
