I am an architecture major and have very basic photoshop skills combine with microsoft publisher. As i will be upgrading to a mac soon, i was looking at aperture and wondered if it could do similar stuff with aperture 3.

I want to select different parts of images and drag drop into another layer forming a collage and edit to make it realistic, if you have seen architectural renderings, you know what i mean.

Photoshop is expensive, and aperture is a mere $80 on mac app store.

No. Aperture and Photoshop are not really comparable. They have very different aims and feature sets. Aperture competes with Lightroom.
