Is Apple Big Brother? No. If the author read the book, he'd realize it had nothing to do maintaining control of a phone but rather maintaining control of people.

So much misinformation in one article.

So i guess you won't be buying the mac tablet when it comes out, right?
And you don't own an ipod, or other apple product?
Apple doesn't make you hang around on MR, waiting to hear about updates?
Eh?
;)

a lot of this anti-:apple: lately is because of the new pc commercials. they have hypnotizing powers; i know this because i started thinking about looking into dell because of it!

and the google voice thing will be in the store in a day or two, apple hasn't strayed too far from it's values....

I think the article is a reference to Apple's 1984 ad campaign, which was indeed a poorly-conceived reference to the book.

Come on yall. Apple, compared to other companies, is very good at controlling people... Generating hype, stuff like that. I find the new ads very misleading and staged, they smell like bs from a mile off. Except the one with frank the homeless guy, which is awesome.
