Seems like somebody screwed up here... My friend is going to Purdue and he is considering buying this 15" MBP from their university store. It says on the site and in the store that they're selling a 15.4" antiglare TFT widescreen MBP... I almost considered calling purdue and asking them because I just bought a new 17" one for the sole reason that I can't stand glossy displays.

Is apple cheating us or is there a mistake somewhere?

It's probably a mistype. There's no reason for Apple to offer a matte screen on the 15" MBP. It would take away from the sales of the more expensive 17" model.

That is definitely a typo, Apple does not offer an Anti-glare option on their website so it would not make sense to have one at a single college bookstore and nowhere else.
