I live in Philadelphia so maybe this is just a local thing but I’m finding that the business information in Apple Maps is increasingly wrong. Where a Target has existed for over five years, Apple Maps says it’s a church and cemetery. I’ve lived in this neighborhood for twenty years and neither of those have existed while I’ve been here. Other locations for bars and restaurants are showing businesses that have not existed for well over ten years, if ever. The spots where they drop the location on the maps are wildly inconsistent making it look like a business is on another street or at a different address.

I often submit changes and sometimes they get updated but sometimes the “old places” (that never existed) remain.

I still use Apple Maps for driving directions and I’m okay with that for my needs. But for walking around town or getting information about businesses (95% of what I use it for), I’m finding Apple Maps is increasingly giving me blatantly and historically wrong information.

I’ve also been surprised by Apple Maps lack of street view for some locations. I would have thought, by now, that they’ve scanned the majority of the United States, if not the world.

I mean, what do you think about the future of Apple Maps? It doesn’t seem like they’re continuing to invest time or money in the project. I’m not really sure what they spend their trillions of dollars on but it doesn’t seem to me like they’re interested in making any user experience compelling or better.

I've noticed this constantly over time, and it's why I still have never embraced AM as my main Map App.

Once you realize how much data is incorrect in areas you know, it's hard to not think about what it's likely got wrong in places you don't know.

Apple is unwilling to spend the amount of money they need to spend to keep Apple Maps relevant. I don’t think Apple Maps was ever supposed to be a serious app. Apple only introduced it when Google refused to update the iOS version of Google maps. Google was purposely doing this to make the iOS experience worse than android.

In my opinion, Apple Maps has served its purpose and now it’s time to let it die.
