Is apple really sold out?

Of 16GB wifi iPad 1's that is... My iPad has had an issue, but everyone is telling me to get it replaced.

The entire left side of my iPad screen clicking in because it's loose I guess, and it has gotten worse over the months. I've had it for 8 or 9 months, so it's still under warranty, but I read on these forums that apple is sold out of 16GB wifi iPad 1's. Does that mean I can't just waltz up with my iPad and sales receipt and get it replaced?

I figured I'd ask on here before I drive for 3-4 hours to the nearest apple store to find out I can't. It's not a huge issue, but it wouldn't hurt to get it replaced, right?

they save stock. they had iphone 3g replacements when the 3gs was at the end of its lifeline. they save stock for replacements. got get your ipad replaced before the warranty is up.
