Just saw this on a tech website. Not sure if this is true, but is apple selling an Unlocked Ipad 2??

MuscleNerd posted a snapshot of an iPad homescreen with a T-Mobile network label which seems to testify the fact that the iPad 2 is compatible with T-Mobile’s GSM network. It also confirmed the same over Twitter.

According to MuscleNerd,

“Confirming iPad2 is carrier unlocked: http://is.gd/PAwtPX (same BB as iPhone…unlock status is in per-device “seczone”)
The iPad2 unlock status was completely expected, just confirming it for those who want to use T-Mobile instead of AT&T. Doesn’t apply to i4.”

Confirmed : Apple Selling iPad 2 Carrier Unlocked In The United States!

All GSM iPads come unlocked, and always have come unlocked.

You perhaps missed the big thread of people concerned that some pre-launch wording on Apple's website heralded carrier-locking for the ipad2. Some would say it was a reasonable interpretation, some would say it was pre-availability overanalysis.

Accordingly, I believe the OP's point was to assuage any remaining concerns that the GSM iPad2's might possibly be carrier-locked.
