Is AppleCare plan on MBA refundable if you lose/destroy the MBA within the 1st year? (i.e. while still within the original 1-year warranty)

I sure hope it doesn't happen... but it has happened to someone I know. She lost her iPad after 8 months. She had SquareTrade 3-year warranty. They gave her a prorated refund(36 months minus 8 months).

Thanks!

Thanks!

What if the AppleCare plan was purchased from an authorized Apple retailer?
(for only 63% of what Apple.com sells the same plan for)

According to the link I provided above, they require a copy of the plan's original proof of purchase. It also states that it is a "pro rata refund of the original purchase price."
