Hiya,

I bought a Samsung 80GB Spinpoint ATA133 hard drive for my blue & white G3 450.

As the original 9GB SCSI was too small, (and loud these days)...

Only problem is, Ive installed OS 9.2.2 and 10.3.3 Panther and they work fine, however, on 9.2.2 I got cubase to work, but I installed a trial version of Peak (direct from BIAS website) and it gave error after error before crashing...

Does this mean its the HD to blame?

I thought it would be backward compatible? Ie just run @ the bus speed of the mac...

Or am I wrong?

If im wrong, would buying a ATA133 PCI card sort it out? (and even be quicker?)

Thanks :)

I have an ata 100 drive on my blue and whites original ata 33 bus like you. I highly doubt those issues are from the drive. it would either work or not. only issue running a 133 drive on a 33 bus is that the drive will only run at 33. the pci ata 133 card is a good idea. I plan to buy one soon myself. app opening alone will be 2-3 times faster with that card plus many other write and read functions of the system.
