Is Boxcar dead?

I guess everyone was right when the new iOS notification system was announced and we figured it meant the end of Boxcar. Their service has been down for hours and so far I've only been able to find one article about it and a handful of tweets, mostly not in English. No one seems to know what's going on, just that the app has stopped working and their site won't load anymore. Has anyone here sleuthed out what's going on?
