Is "contract free" same as unlocked?

When I look at the apple store I can see that I can buy iPhone6 as "contract free T-mobile" phone. But when looking at the iphone 5s I can see 2 options and both under "Unlocked and contract free, one with T-mobile sim and one sim free.

Are all those phones unlocked and ready for world wide use?

In the past the contract free T-Mobile one has been unlocked and I don't see any reason for that to change. They just don't usually want to advertise that an unlocked one is available on launch day.
