I just recently found out that such thing as EyeTv exists. I didn't know it was possible to hook my cable to my iMac!!! But I was wondering if I do start watching tv on my computer, will it for any reason be bad for the computer or reduce the monitor's life????

Say I use the computer 2 hrs a day and watch tv 2hrs a day. If I do both on my iMac, will I be cutting the life of my lcd in half?

I had the same iBook as you do. Just be aware, that because of the relative feebleness of your iBook's graphics card and CPU, that EyeTV will set the fans off as the temperature climbs over 55C. Not ideal for watching quiet bits of TV.

Risc: Thanks for answering my question. I didn't know the estimated lifetime of the lcds were that long.

Weckart: I wouldn't be using the iBook for tv watching, it would be the 24" iMac I just bought! :) But thanks for your advice!

Eidorian: Thanks for helping me with my math.
