I use FaceTime a lot of every day and since Tahoe it's been a complete nightmare to use:

  • Not all calls are going through
  • FaceTime app stays open even after starting a call
  • Often the FaceTime window doesn't appear even though the app is open. Resolved by force quitting FaceTime and opening it again. This happens on a daily basis.
  • Often when I call on FaceTime Audio, FaceTime still keeps the camera on which makes no sense
  • When a FaceTime Audio call is active, the floating call window only shows the sound waves of the person on the other end
  • When a FaceTime Audio call is active and you move the floating call window it suddenly becomes bigger if the other person has an Apple ID with a large image (and you can't resize that window back to it's original size). So now it's just in the way and you have to move it around all the time
  • Screen Sharing often doesn't work; you have to call the person up again and then it typically works
  • The UI is glitchy and some green buttons are completely overexposed (like the "New" button)
  • With every Mac app you open while on a FaceTime call you're asked if you want to collaborate. If you don't want to, you can't disable that, and if you do it doesn't actually work.
Those are just some of my frustrations. What a shame.
