I don't know if I can learn Final Cut Pro three on a Tiger or Leopard system now?

Since I know nothing about it, is there anything online that is now unsupported for this older FCP program?

Is there any reason why I can't use it now?

Meaning, is there some technical reason why it is out of date?

I bought an older Cube that came with the full discs/program etc.

is there any reason why it can't be used to edit stuff or is this just too old school and I am being ridiculous?

I need to learn it to edit a music video. Haven't edited since the days of Avids on 3/4" tape.

If you are running it on some older hardware, like the cube, I don't see why you cant use it. Although it may not work with Tiger or Leopard - you'd have to experiment to find that out.

Does anyone know what the differences are in the programs?

How would I find out the specs on FCP3?

Finding the specs were tough, but I was able to track down the press release for FCP 3 here.

Final Cut Pro 3 requires Mac OS X v10.1.1 or Mac OS 9.2.2, a Macintosh® computer with a 300 MHz or faster PowerPC G3 or G4 processor with built-in FireWire, 256MB of RAM (384MB recommended for G4 real-time effects), and 40MB of available disk space for installation. (G4 500 MHz or higher required for G4 real-time effects; PowerBook G4 667 MHz required for mobile real-time DV effects.) Versions for both Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 are included in the Final Cut Pro 3 box.

It should run on the cube without any problems if it running a older copy of OSX or OS9. Like the post above, you would just have to try it on newer versions of OSX. Also since it is a Power PC program, it will run very poorly on Intel Macs. You would have to stick with PPC hardware. Good luck.
