Is Find My Friends always running Location Services?

I don't wanna always kill battery. When you are out of the app, is Find my Friends still taking your current location? How does it work?

What do you guys think of find my friends?

Simple answer: it's not always on, it won't kill your battery.

Longer answer: "Your location is sent from your device when someone requests to see your location. It is not transmitted on a regular interval. For more information please see iCloud Security & Privacy Overview."
